Today is FRIDAY.

I like today because today is Friday.

I'm happy because tomorrow I get to see lots of friends and it will be a delight.

I'm happy because I don't have to go to work tomorrow.

I'm happy because I'll do whatever I want.

I'm happy because I will play ultimate frisbee on Sunday.

I'm happy because I used my new cup to get a delicious latte from Starbucks.

I'm happy because I only have 5 classes today.

Things I would like to do next week:

1.  Floss my teeth.  I bought floss on Sunday and have flossed my teeth everyday since.  I mean, what a pain in the ass.  Although, it makes between my teeth feel a-so nice.  haha.

2.  Go back to knitting.  The last (80) time(s) I tried to knit, I angrily ripped it apart.  I would like it if I could make it past 10 rows without effing it all up.

3.  Order some stuff from iherb.  I use Dr. Bronner's as my shampoo and it's making my head a little dry.  However, it's making my hair awesome.  So, I need to order some of the conditioner.  Everyone should use Dr. Bronner's for everything because it smells sooooooo nice.  Yum.

4.  Continue considering the purchase of a ukulele.  I really want that ukulele I saw but I just bought that bike and I'm planning on buying that IPod Touch.  hmmm... could eat kimbaps for one month straight.  No problem.

Yes, that blog title is referring to me.  Don't be jealous.  Yes, I did buy a bike last night.  Yes, I did ride that bike to Haeundae for my first Korean class back.  Yes, I did already start my homework for said class.

Wow.  I am impressive.

Also, a spectacular Korean style dinner was cooked for Tammy and Lizzie on Sunday.

Yes, I did go to Home Plus and buy so many goods.

Yes, I replaced the magic pen whose twin I gave to Jax.

Yes, I did wash the sheets AND do the dishes AND sweep the floor AND clean the cat's litter box.

I'm just writing this blog because I am very impressed with myself.  Usually, I lay in bed and think about how I could go to Korean class but six subway stops is just too far.  Sometimes, I lay in bed, get up, make a cup of tea, and drink it.  I'm usually impressed with that behavior.

I will tell you one thing.  Most adults that I know used to tell me about how I had it so easy in college and that they had to go to work for the whole day and it was so tiring and blah blah blah.  The thing that I will tell you is this:  They were lying.

I used to go to school and work and dance and be in plays and work at the radio station and go to the gym and eat and hang out with friends and blah blah blah.

But guess what?  Now, I don't have to do anything I don't want to do... except go to work (but usually I want to go).  I don't have to go to dancing because I should be doing things related to my major.  I don't have to be in a play until I want to be in a play.  I don't even have to work at a radio station because I should.

Oh, man.  It is awesome.

Then, there are weeks like this week when I get so many things done and I feel so proud of myself.

"Wow!  You got up and got dressed!"
"Yea, I did!"
"I'm so impressed with you."
"Thanks, it means a lot."

And that is how my brain works.

So, I will take my job where I go to work everyday over college any day.  Yea, I did a lot of fun stuff in college and I miss being with my friends all the time.  But!  I can still do all the fun things I did in college and not have to do all the extra annoying shit!

Is this some kind of genius miracle?  No, it's just a secret adults hide from kids until they figure it out on their own.  How else can they keep kids in school all those years?

Today was awesome in three parts.

1.  I am a terrible daughter and still have not managed to buy my mom a Christmas present.  A long time ago, I saw a store that had a bunch of beautifully made quilts and quilted things like bags.  My plan has been to buy one of those bags but I knew that it would be expensive and that I wouldn't be able to afford it until at least now, hence, no Christmas present.  I went into the shop once before but I was too nervous to ask about the bags because there were no fewer than six Korean women quilting... so, I ran out of there like it was a Catholic church.

Anyways, I went back in today.  I asked the lady how much the bags were and she said, "Oh, they are very expensive."  I'm thinking to myself, "What's this lady mean?  People in my family quilt and I know it takes forever so, blah blah."  So, she finally tells me how much this small purse sized bag costs.  Are you ready for it?  W450,000.  aka $420.  Are you serious?  Bitch, please.  So, whatever.  But then, she was like, "Oh, you should come back.  I will teach you how to make it.  Okay?"  So, I'm all, "Yea, let's do the damn thang."

I'm going to try to go back and make something and not mess it up.  

So, mom, you aren't getting one of those bags.  So, back to square one.  Maybe you'll just get some special presents for random days of the year.

2.  I decided to go to this delicious place for lunch today.  Yesterday, I taught the maximum amount of 7 classes.  I pretty much wanted to rip my legs off for most of the day because standing that long on hard concrete is not my idea of fun.  Anyways, that's why I decided to go to that delicious place.  I'm all, "Sengsankasa (fish fry)?  Holla!"  So, I take my papers to grade and head on over there.  When I got there, I happened to sit by the boss at the other building.  We said, "Hi," to each other and went back to what we were doing.  Anyways, I was in the middle of eating when he got up to go and do you want to know what he did?  He took my bill!  Sweet.  So, I got to eat some delicious fish AND not pay for it.  Love it.  Then, the waiter came over and asked me if I wanted some coffee and tea because I have blonde hair and should be served!  haha.

3.  My last two hours of class are usually with an adorable child name Ally.  She is literally one of the cutest kids I teach.  She's so smart and sweet and speaks pretty good English.  Anyways, Ally used to be in a class with another girl.  The other girl complained that Ally was too young to be in the same class with and quit.  Brat.  Then it was just supposed to be me and Ally.  As I've said, I really like this kid BUT two hours with any, one kid, is not fun.  It just isn't.  There's not that much to do with just one and games are hard to come by.

My Korean co-teacher pulled me aside to tell me that Ally wouldn't be there because she has to rehearse for an orchestra that she plays in.  I was like, "Nice!"  But, then!  The teacher told me she wouldn't come back until April or May.  So, I'm a little sad that I won't teach her for a while but it's always nice for a break!

So, that's why my day is awesome.

Don't worry.  Tomorrow will be awesome because it will be one of the Top Two Best Holidays of the Year.

A lot of people from Avalon recently left because their contracts were finished.  One of the Koreans asked me if I was sad that everyone is leaving.  I said, "No, because people leave all the time."  Maybe it's a little harsh but people do leave all the time. 

You meet people and you're like, "Oh hey, we have the same birthday"  or "Oh, I went to that school."  Sometimes you see them again, but more often than not, they disappear.  Maybe they're still here, maybe they're not... I'm not really sure.  haha. 

Anyways, I had to do one of the first big goodbyes to Cat and Simon last weekend.  They've been a lot of fun and I'll be sad to see them go... but happy to visit them in New Zealand!!  They were a great help during my first year.  They always knew random bits of information about Daegu i.e. how to deal with drunk taxi drivers, how to get to foreigner markets, where to find this or that. 

I've also had a lot of fun with them due to Cat's metabolism being the same as mine.  We like to have a meal, take a cat nap, (see how I threw that pun in there?  bahahha) drink a coffee and some drinks, and then bounce off the walls like maniacs.  I will miss someone to share this with.

It is a less than 10 minute walk to get to this beach.  Even though there is a shorter way, I usually walk along the beach to go to work.  I think these pictures were taken during Chinese New Year.

I thought this little family was so cute.  The grandpa is wearing traditional hanbok.  After this picture was taken, he tried to get the grandson to come over and say hi to us. 

I have some more pictures that I will hopefully put up soon.  I just need to look through them.  I have a lot of time these days because I don't go into work until 2.  Generally, I wake up at 7:45 and sort everything out around the house.  Then, I lay around and read my book.  Go back to sleep.  Drink some tea and get ready.  Then, walk on the beach.  It's a pretty hard life.
